Fleming Jewelers - History

John J. Fleming senior was a fixture of John J. Fleming Jewelry, Inc from 1949 until 2001. He was born in Charlestown, MA and was very proud of his "Townie" roots. He was a singer and entertainer while growing up and was offered to go on the RKO circuit. He also worked for Lever Brothers in the advertising department. Mr. Fleming became a professional photographer and hobbied and worked in jewelry which led to the opening of Fleming Jewelers in 1949. He was a man of integrity and quality and brought that to his jewelry store everyday.

Eleanor (Gallivan) Fleming, wife of John J., was born in South Boston and was a proud resident until she moved with John to Milton to raise a family. She was a graduate of Nazareth High School and also worked at Lever Brothers. She was the mother of three, Kathleen, Maureen, and John and was very dedicated to her family. Eleanor was a pleasant addition to Fleming Jewelers every Saturday and during Christmas time. Mrs. Fleming had a keen sense of quality and loved visiting with all of the customers. We continue on in business today with the legacy of my mother and father always in our thoughts and actions. After almost sixty years of business, our only advertising has been through word of mouth from our loyal and dedicated customers.
